Business Finance Architecture
for Founder-led companies outgrowing spreadsheets, disconnected systems, and scattered numbers
We help structure finance + operating data into reliable reporting, investor-ready metrics, and AI-ready decision layers before companies engage heavier systems or teams.
What We Solve
Large companies usually have specialized teams, established systems, institutional advisers, and enough process to absorb complexity. Their challenges are real, but the machinery around finance is usually already there.
Founder-led and mid-sized companies face a different problem.
They often grow through speed, instinct, relationships, and direct execution. Teams are lean. Leaders stay close to the business. Finance is often kept “just enough” for records, tax, banking, and basic reporting. That works for a while — until the business becomes more complex than the structure behind the numbers.
At that point, the founder may not need a full transformation program. They may not be ready for a heavy CFO hire, a large consulting project, or a major software implementation. But they do need something more than bookkeeping, scattered spreadsheets, or a dashboard built on unclear data. They need a practical way to understand what the business is really doing before making the next important decision.
Mind & Method was created for that gap.
We help companies connect source data, finance control, operating drivers, reporting logic, and executive decisions. The work is not decorative analysis. It is not a generic dashboard. It is a practical structure that helps management know what is reliable, what is missing, who owns the data, what the numbers mean, and what should be fixed before the company hires, raises capital, buys software, expands, restructures, or enters a transaction.
In the AI era, this layer becomes more important, not less. AI and software can process information once the structure exists. They cannot decide what a business should mean by a business unit, margin, customer, cost driver, owner, or decision threshold. Those definitions require judgment, context, and accountability.
That is where Mind & Method works.
The company still owns and validates its source data. Finance and operating teams still produce the facts. Mind & Method helps design the structure around them: what data is needed, how ownership should work, how finance and operations should connect, and how reporting can become useful for decisions.

The goal is simple: help management reach the next important decision with clearer numbers, clearer structure, and less hidden uncertainty.
Finance Architecture Roadmap
From Financial Hygiene to Decision /AI-ready Finance
Most companies already have pieces of the finance ecosystem: accountants, bookkeepers, auditors, tax advisers, lawyers, software vendors, internal finance teams, and sometimes fractional CFOs. As companies grow, finance stops being only bookkeeping. It becomes the structure through which founders understand performance, allocate resources, manage risk, prepare for capital events, and eventually support systems, automation, and AI.
Compared with traditional providers
Accountants and bookkeepers maintain records. Mind & Method helps turn records into management structure.
Auditors and tax advisers provide compliance and assurance. Mind & Method helps management prepare decision-ready views based on audit, tax, or legal outcome.
Software and dashboard vendors offer tools. Mind & Method helps define the data, mapping, measures, and ownership the tools depend on.
Fractional CFOs may provide broad finance leadership. Mind & Method dive into details on the architecture behind reporting, strategic finance, and decision-ready numbers.
Large consulting firms support major transformation programs. Mind & Method is lighter, principal-led, and designed for companies that need high-context finance architecture before committing to a heavy team, heavy system, or large-scale program.
We do not replace finance teams, professional advisers, or software. We build the structure that makes their work usable for founder-level decisions.
What We Build
Financial Foundation Readiness
When the books and data exist but are not enough to support decisions.
___________________________________
Close process, budget, forecast, cash flow, margin, runway, KPI, control, consolidation, audit prep, and management reporting – structured into a rhythm founders can use meaningfully.
Reporting Architecture
When spreadsheets multiply and everyone has a different version of the truth.
___________________________________
We build the data structure behind the numbers: entities, accounts, business units, KPIs, FX, adjustments, reporting lines, and measures – so reports stop being manual guesswork.
Transaction & Valuation Readiness
When investors, buyers, lenders, or board members start asking harder questions.
___________________________________
Valuation models, scenario analysis, financial narratives, investor-facing materials, diligence preparation, and board-level reporting – built to survive scrutiny.
AI-Ready Finance Layer
When the company wants automation, dashboards, or AI, but the underlying data is still scattered.
___________________________________
We help create the semantic layer that makes finance and operating data usable by people, software, and future AI workflows.
Cross-Border Strategic Execution
When teams, entities, cash, currencies, and stakeholders sit across different markets.

Who We Work With
Mind & Method works best with founder/owner-led, or sponsor-backed operating companies where the business is real, but the finance and operating data are not yet structured enough to support clear decisions. Our clients are usually not looking for another spreadsheet, dashboard, or generic finance report. They are trying to understand what is really happening in the business — across finance, operations, entities, teams, cash, margins, and strategic choices.
-
For companies that have outgrown founder intuition, basic bookkeeping, or scattered spreadsheets.
Common signs:
reports exist, but the founder still does not have a trusted management view;
cash, margin, runway, budget, and KPI views are not connected;
finance and operating data sit in different places;
management knows the business is growing, but cannot easily see what is driving performance;
the company is not ready for a full finance team, heavy system, or large consulting project.
Mind & Method helps build the missing structure between bookkeeping, operations, and founder-level decisions.
-
For companies operating across multiple entities, countries, teams, currencies, or business lines.
Common signs:
local finance data does not roll up cleanly into a group view;
entity, BU, department, owner, FX, intercompany, or adjustment logic is unclear;
finance and operating data cannot be compared consistently across locations;
management wants better visibility before system migration, automation, or broader rollout;
local teams each have their own files, definitions, and working habits.
Mind & Method helps define source-data requirements, mapping logic, reporting lines, and management views that can work across entities and teams.
-
For companies preparing for fundraising, lender review, board scrutiny, M&A discussions, strategic collaboration, restructuring, or expansion.
Common signs:
investors, lenders, buyers, or board members are asking harder questions;
historic results, forecast, unit economics, and strategic narrative are not yet aligned;
the financial model depends on assumptions that are not yet supported by operating data;
management needs valuation, scenarios, board materials, diligence support, or transaction-readiness work;
the company needs to explain not only what the numbers are, but what they mean.
Mind & Method helps turn finance and operating data into decision materials that can withstand scrutiny.
You may be a good fit if…
The business is real, but the reporting structure is still immature;
Management wants better visibility before engaging a heavy team or system;
Finance, operations, and strategy need to be connected;
Source data exists, but ownership, mapping, and definitions are unclear;
You need a practical bridge among accounting, operation, reporting, and decisions.
We may not be the right fit if…
You only need bookkeeping, tax filing, payroll, audit, or legal advice;
You want a dashboard without first clarifying source data, ownership, and definitions;
You expect an external adviser to take responsibility for source-data accuracy without internal owner validation;
Management is not ready for structural improvements.
How Engagements Work
STAGE 1
Diagnostic Sprint
A short, focused review to understand what is missing, unclear, unreliable, or not yet repeatable.
We review your current finance structure, data availability, reporting outputs, source-data ownership, key risks, and management needs. The goal is to identify what should be fixed first before heavier reporting, systems, automation, or AI workflows are introduced.
Typical outputs may include current-state assessment, source-data and ownership gaps, reporting readiness view, priority issues and next steps, practical roadmap for build or pilot.
______________________________________________
Best when you know the numbers are not decision-ready, but do not yet know where the problem starts.
STAGE 2
Architecture / Build / Pilot
Once the core gaps are clear, we help design the structure behind the reporting.
This may include source-data requirements, entity and COA mapping, BU or service-line definitions, KPI and measure logic, reporting views, and a pilot management pack.
The client remains responsible for source-data accuracy, completeness, correction, and validation. Mind & Method organizes validated inputs into decision-ready reporting structures.
______________________________________________
Best when the company needs a reliable management view, system-readiness path, or pilot before wider rollout.
STAGE 3
Ongoing Run / Strategic Support
After the architecture is clear, support can continue in two ways.
For recurring needs, Mind & Method can help run a repeatable management reporting process from owner-validated finance and operating data.
For strategic moments, we can support valuation views, scenarios, investor materials, board reporting, diligence preparation, cross-border analysis, and transaction readiness.
______________________________________________
Best when the numbers need to support bigger decisions — fundraising, M&A discussions, lender review, board decisions, expansion, or major restructuring.
Founder
Founding Philosophy
I am a strategic finance and business architecture adviser shaped by experience in operating companies, capital markets, transactions, asset management, and cross-border execution. I have seen finance from the outside-in and inside-out: how investors read numbers, how transactions test numbers, how operators produce numbers, and how founders need to use numbers. Mind & Method was built from that combined view.
My path has moved across several parts of the financial world: M&A and post-investment integration, index and portfolio thinking, passive investment, asset management, capital-market research, operating-company finance, controllership, FP&A, corporate development, and multi-entity reporting. The common thread was not a job title. It was a repeated interest in structure — how money moves, how businesses are measured, how decisions are made, and where companies lose clarity as they grow.
That is why Mind & Method starts before the report, the model, the dashboard, the software, or the AI workflow. Lean teams should be able to benefit from AI without first building a heavy internal data function. We help build the readiness layer underneath: clear definitions, ownership, workflows, reporting logic, and finance-operating connections that allow tools, teams, and AI to support real business decisions.
My work is practical by design: rigorous enough to withstand scrutiny, light enough to work with lean teams, and close enough to the business to produce decisions rather than decoration.
I am a CFA charterholder and hold an MSc in Finance from Imperial College London.
Representative Work
-
I helped build finance capabilities for a listed deeptech / cleantech company from early operating needs through public-company readiness and post-listing corporate development. The work covered core finance, FP&A, budgeting, runway monitoring, cost models, pricing support, valuation, governance infrastructure, investor materials, and cross-border strategic finance.
-
I stepped into a fast-moving technology company with fragmented finance processes and helped bring controllership, budgeting, cash visibility, reporting, and management materials to a board-presentable level within a compressed timeline.
-
I designed a management reporting architecture for a multi-entity, cross-border, M&A-driven operating group, connecting source data, ownership, mapping, finance and operating measures, audit / statutory bridge considerations, and management views into a repeatable source-to-decision structure.
-
Work across M&A, diligence, investment analysis, post-merger integration, asset management, capital-market research, index and portfolio exposure, and passive-investment knowledge shaped how I think about financial information under scrutiny: not only how numbers are prepared, but how they are tested, challenged, trusted, and used.

No. We do not replace accountants, bookkeepers, auditors, or tax advisers. We work alongside them by helping management define reporting logic, financial structure, data requirements, and decision-ready outputs.
We do not replace internal finance. We structure the work around them.

No. Mind & Method does not provide legal advice, audit opinions, tax opinions, regulated investment advice, securities dealing, asset management, or brokerage services. Our work focuses on strategic finance, management reporting, FP&A, financial governance, and operating advisory.
-
Most engagements begin with a Diagnostic Sprint to understand the company’s current financial structure, reporting gaps, data availability, and management priorities before moving into a build or ongoing support arrangement.
-
We usually start by identifying where the numbers stop being reliable or useful: source data, ownership, mapping, measure definitions, reporting logic, or management view. The first goal is not to produce more reports, but to find what must be fixed before reports, systems, or AI workflows can be trusted.
-
Pricing depends on scope, complexity, timeline, data condition, number of entities, reporting needs, and level of ongoing support. Project-based and monthly retainer structures are available.
-
Because not every growing company needs a large consulting project, a full finance build-out, or a new system before it knows what is actually broken.
Large firms are useful for enterprise-scale transformation. Internal hires are useful when the role and structure are already clear. Software and AI are useful when the data and workflows are ready.
Mind & Method works in the gap before those decisions: clarifying what the numbers should mean, what data is needed, who owns it, how finance and operations connect, and what structure must exist before the company hires, buys, automates, raises capital, or enters a transaction.
The result is a lighter, faster, and more practical path to decision-ready finance structure — without losing rigor.
